I was on the highway geting on the on ramp of another highway, traffic was stopped completely, a 19 year old girl in an SUV hit the truck behind me, knocked him off the highway, and then hit me. She was insured by Farmers, obviously texting and driving. She smashed in the rear of my service van. Her parents came out, everyone admited she was at fault, I contacted her agent within 1 hour, I told him I needed a rental vehicle, he was rude and short with me. Non one contacted me for 2 days, meanwhile, I couldn't open the doors of my van, which meant loosing money since I own a heating and cooling company and it was a hot week in Kansas. When they did agree to pay damages, they wanted to use used parts, and after market parts. I insisted on new general motors parts. I worked this out with the body company. All said and done, I asked for lost wages of $600 for the time my vehicle was down, they denied the claim, saying that it was my responsibility to rent a vehicle to avoid loss. the amount I asked for was very conservative, since I had to empty my van for the repairs, which took onther full day. We were in the process of getting a qoute from farmers on all of our business insurance, we have decided to never, ever do business with farmers.

I took out liability insurance with Mid-Century Insurance Company, Los Angeles, California 6 months ago, 6 months later I received a bill and I thought I would pay the bill online, Well got a surprise the web site said I don’t exist and my local agent can’t reach him by email or phone number now what should I do? Now that explains why I found cheap insurance. Anyone have any advice like who i can contact?

Document everything, keep good records, if any delays contact you state Insurance Commission fast.

Cheer up people! Having been with Farmers for many many years - my full grown adult children have magically appeared now on my auto insurance policy(s) and my ex-husband, of many years living in the other part of this country, is now magically appearing on my property(s) insurance and if that isn't enough they are double billing and just plain demanding payments when NONE ARE DUE and they admit it and then go screw-up some other policy you have with them! Writing to the commissioner isn't going to help you - don't be so naive -YES!!!!!! It is 100% all about the money and not you!

On top of charging me monthly they add a $5 dollars service to the monthly fee.
Also if they received the payment one day after the due date they charge $10 dollars more.
I am very pissed with Farmers because they keep sending me and my wife a lot advertisements to get their services. Even our mail delivery has increased and i suspect that Farmers is given info to other companies. After August i will drop their auto policiy but can i do that now?If i change to another company will Farmers be after me for the last 2 months of my policy.

I have Farmers I canot stand them. First I was lied to about how much my policy was going to cost I should have changed insurance then but I didnt. My car was totalled when a guy turned left in front of me and when he came to a stop he had turned his car around and was rear ended. He admitted it was his fault from the git go. At the accident site we found out we had both farmers and the same agent. So they did give me a fair price for my Vehicle but it took one month and they charged me my deductible( their explanation was because they had to determine who was at fault) they had changed the claim number twice because someone screwed up and put the wrong date on the claims. The first part of my conversation with them about getting my deductible back they told me that when my totalled vehicle sells at auction then they would refund me my deductible as the other guy is waiting to have his car fixed. Then when I asked about the change in claim numbers they said that they just could not go in and change the date to the true date of the accident and as soon and they got the claim number changed with the correct date of loss they would refund my deductible. who they cannot even tell the same story in the same conversation. Guess the guy had state minium of only $10,000.00 for property loss. I am afraid if I change insurance now my deductible would be a total loss too. If they fix the other guys car then as I was informed I would have to take the guy at fault to court. I am not going to do that as it takes a honest man to admit that he was at fault from the beginnning and he had insurance I am sure that he is going thru H*LL with them too. I had a wreck with my old insurance company and they had me in a new car within a week and I did not have to pay a deducitble until it was settled with the other insurance. Why did I change because of lower rates and I needed house insurance and my other company would not cover me house without some window replacements due to a amall hole in screens. I am telling you when everything is over I am out of there and in march when my house insurance is due I will have another insurance comapnay for that too.

I was involved in a accident over 2 years ago. I have farmers insurance. The person who hit me was uninsured, but i have uninsured motorist coverage. I have been waiting for over 2 years to collect my $750.00 deductiable. They now want me to pay a 22% fee for COLLECTING the money. I have called them AT LEAST FIFTY times and have had my case moved to at least TWELVE different people.Im 50 and have had them since I was 16 and have NEVER had a claim. They say that as soon as they collect enough money to cover my deduc. they will send me money, telling me this for the last two years. Today I was told that they have to collect all of the money before they can send it to me. Illinois laws allow them to supend the lisense of the driver and also the parent because the driver was in their can and was 16. They did that. Then they made a payment 100 dollars and got paper work saying they r paying and the state gives them back their lisense, which they did. Now the next time they miss a payment the state will take away the lisence untill the bill is paid off IN TOTAL. the payment they got was 18months ago and FARMERS wont suspend their lisence because they told me they would not be able to get to work. As i see this is working out great they are not getting paid. I called the States att. office and have the kids lisence revoked. I tell farmers they r not doing anything to help me get my money and the have one of their attornys call me. They say that NOW its been to long to suspend their lisence. This is the guy they hired for this case. He DOESNT EVEN NO THE LISENCE IS ALLREADY SUSPENDED.He knows nothing about this case. I have to admitt that i dont blame them for not paying me. IM STUPID ENOUGH TO KEEP PAYING MY BILL. I will change my insurance SOON if i dont get my money. 2 years is long enough. my claim number is 1017783623 if any farmers r reading this. QUIT LYING TO ME AND PAY ME. THIS JUST SHOWS U HOW MUCH FARMERS CARE 35 YEAR customer with NO CLAIMS and they cant pay me the 750.00. get real. I have spent 0ver 60 hrs on the phone and will spend a nother 60 if i have to. THATS WASTED MONEY. pay me BRUCE CRISS

I am so happy that I decided to look up complaints about Farmer's Insurance. Now I have some collaberative history to provide a supportive background on my current complaints. I'm grateful that I did hire an attorney to represent me and I'm glad that I also called the Department of Regulations when my gut told me that something was wrong. I'm truly disgusted in the unethical and immoral actions of Farmer's Insurance employees. It is difficult to understand how human beings can knowingly defraud others when they are in pain and suffering and act as if they are doing their job.
Everyone of these stories shows me how big businesses think it is ok to walk all over individuals. Ironic how big businesses get bailed out when they go belly up. Someone needs to take a stand so that the voices of all of the individuals screwed over by Farmer's Insurance can at least be heard or known.
Adjectives that come to mind that describe Farmer's Insurance: rude, obnoxious, unsympathetic, unprofessional, discourteous, deceitful, abusive, harassive. bullying, careless, negligent, spineless, heartless, unsupportive, and one more humanless. They prey on people who need assistance. They accept your money readily but can't pay it out when an event happens.
I recently had my vehicle stolen from my driveway while I was asleep. It feels like you are being violated because someone is brazen enough to come onto your property and steal something of yours..I called the police and then my insurance company that I beleived to be Foremost. I never even heard of Farmer's. I explained what happened and received loss of claim forms in the mail. I drove to my local agent to show him the paperwork and he told me they were local and to personally drive to their location to do the paperwork. I did so. I turned it what I could and notarized the rest and sent them to their Oklahoma city address certified mail of course with tracking. Needless to say, I later got accused of being uncooperative and noncompliant in their investigation as they never received any documents. That's why I love when mail has a tracking system with delivery dates and times.
Three weeks passed with nothing except me making phone calls that didn't get returned. That's when I called the state Department of Regulations. I informed them that I didn't like how I was being treated. I then decided it was time to hire an attorney. After the state contacted them, the very same day I called the state regulation's Department, Farmer's returned my call. Over the next four weeks they have played phone message games with me saying how my attorney never sent them a letter that he was representing me. Untrue.
My initial phone contact with Farmer's was with one agent, but over time, I've been assigned with 5 all with different phone numbers. Each one apparently does not know what the previous one has done because they keep repeating themselves needlessly since the papers were already sent to them. It is almost as if they are trying to break you down.
The worst is when after you do a 30 minute recorded statement by phone, then as if that isn't enough, you are later asked to do an examination under oath. They truly treat you like the criminal when you are really the victim. My attorney requested they meet at his office and they cancelled the appointment saying the letter of representation was never received. A later appoinment was made at their office that my attorney could not attend because he was in court. They never returned our calls reqquesting an earlier time. Then sent me a letter by mail saying that I was noncompliant and would forfeit any rights to a claim. How fair is that? My attorney said to go and answer their questions so I did. Their first question was what medication I took, anything that might impair my judgement. I'm grateful that I don't but where do they get off asking that? Second question did I have any alcohol in the past 24 hours? Any drugs? No, but where do they get off trying to tarnish my character and degrate who I am as a human being? Do they want to portray me as a drunk drug addict when I am a victim of a vehicle theft? Are these the same questions they would have asked had my attorney been present?
As you can see, there are many victim's here of Farmer's Insurance.
I certainly hope and pray that one day they will get what is coming to them. I believe in a Universal law that is above man's and action's receive reactions. No matter what happens in my case, they will get repercussions somehow. Every voice should be heard. Thankyou for free speech..

OMG I am so glad I had a bad month! First it was snowing and icy my husband and my self were driving on the hiway when an accident occured in front of us. The lady a head of us put on her breaks and we had to go into the ditch to avoid a worse accident. For years we had FARMERS full coverage we were very happy no one was hurt and our damag We minnimmum. WE went to the FARMERS adjuster and were lowballed on the repair price both the shop and the insurance adjustered agreed that it would cost more to repair it but since we were cashing out the claim they would only repair what they could see. I am a former claims adjuster and know that the law requires them to pay in full for the damages. They refused to do a complete examination of the car but assured me the shop would put in a suplement to the claim if and when they fixed it. So we excepted the low ball price and decided to change insurance co. Befor that could happen we walked into our house and found it flooded! We had renters insurance with them also. This was last Sat since then they have had an adjuster out and I have been told that although we paid for full replacement value they only pay depreceated value until we replace the item then they will pay a portion of the replacment amount (what they figure is full value) The situation is that a pump to the septic in the house lost power and at some point our toilet began to run while we were gone (don't know if the dog sitter used the toilet or what) the tiolet could not drain and over flowed flooding our house until we returned at 10:00 PM. This seemslike a simple no brainer toilet floods we pay for renters insurance. No they actually paid for an engineer to ccome to the house and do an engineers report on why the pump quit working. In the mean time we are in a house with the carpet ripped out huge loud fans running to dry everything out, I have COPD and the moisture and particles in the air are requiring a trip to the emergency room tonight. We will end up staying at a hotel at our own expence (if and when they decide its their responsibility they will pay for a hotel) I know they are looking to deny payment. Why am I glad the happened??? We have business insurance, renters and auto insurance and never had a claim. What if this had been a bad accident on our business, a car accident that put us in the hospital and totalled our car or a robbery were everything we own was stolen. We just recieved a wake-up call and a sample of their claims service at the cost of a few hundred dollars it could have been much worse. I just want everyone I know to know they need to drop FARMERS before they need them!!! I read earlier they had a class action suit. Doesn't look like they learned anything. We need another class action suit, sign me up lets put them out of business this time they don't want to learn to be ethical!!!

I got into a accident in 09. A elderly women whom had on her left blinker got into oncoming traffic (which there were no cars coming) and turned right. I had three teenagers in the car with me coming back from Houston. The lady said she did not have her left blinker on she had her right one on, in which my daughter said "No you didnt". The lady hit my car in the driver side door and by the front tire. Farmers without pictures or asking to speak to any of the kids or anything decided everyone was going to pay for their own damages. In Dec 2014 i pulled down a two lane road with double yellow lines down the middle i parked on the side i was driving. The guy behind me parked at a opposite angle then me decided he wants to go the same direction as me and we hit making a V shape.. I think he was in the wrong crossing the double yellow lines. Once again farmers decided everyone should pay for their own damages..REALLY?? he crossed the double yellow line, and it took the claims agent 18 min to decided this, no pictures, nothing..What a freaking joke.. I'm leaving Farmers. If you have liability they are nothing more than a piece of paper!!

Farmer's is in the pockets of the New York Courts, and probably other courts. Here in New York State you can be killed in an auto accident, and the New York State Courts will find an excuse to disallow a claim for serious injury. However, if you manage to find a lawyer (Most lawyers won't take your case) they will lead you on, then find a reason to quit. I had to do my own SUM insurance claim, and needless to say, when it came to the point of settling the record on appeal, although I have a two hour and 48 minute recorded phone call wherein J. Patrick Lannon, an alleged former attorney for FARMERS, agrees to settle the record, he actually does not settle the record on appeal. The New York State Supreme Court Appellate Third is so corrupt there are no words. Joan Rivers family will be out of luck on the medical claim too. See, Congressman Paul Tonko took a quarter of a million dollars during the tort reform years, and no one gets paid anything here in New York, even in cases of death. So, I would suggest you get justice any way you can. Here in Albany New York truck driver named Jim Kelly killed a little boy on Central Avenue last week. Although the incident was captured by police video, the little Muslim boy's death will not be compensated for. The truck company was already starting to spread stories that somehow it was the little boy's fault. New York State is so corrupt there are no words. Boycott Farmers. There was a good newspaper article written a few years back due to Farmer's non-payment of claims. The only good thing in New York is that there is no time period set on a Motion for Reconsideration. The Court of Appeals sucks too.

I can understand your anger, but I'd be really upset at the attorney that I paid 15-20000 dollars and didn't pursue the cash at your own company. Not sure what state you live in, but either your attorney or your friend are confused.
