It's 2:30am on a Sunday morning. I was asleep and all of a sudden a loud BOOM woke me up. I didn't think anything about it, I don't live in the best neighborhood and I often hear things like that. About 5 mins later I hear people talking loudly outside. I look out the window to see that my Explorer hit a PT cruiser, which was under a Buick that was parked in front of it. I go outside and see that my truck was hit on the driver rear side and did extensive body damage. The vehicle that hit me busted it's radiator on my car and when the police arrived they followed the liquid trail and found that the 1999 Dodge truck that hit me had been abandoned, with the keys in the ignition. The police came back, I filed a claim, they gave me a case number and the insurance information they got from running the VIN and tag number of the truck that hit me. My truck started and I backed it up so the PT cruiser could get out from under the Buick, however it was making a loud humming noise and died 5 seconds later. So when Monday came around I filed a claim, turned out the woman who owned the vehicle had current insurance. A week goes by (2/28) and I get a call from Farmers Insurance saying that the owner of the car reported the vehicle stolen 2 days after it had been wrecked. Alledgedly, she let somebody borrow the vehicle and it was "stolen" out of their driveway, but somehow who "stole" it had gotten the keys.....HMMMM. So I guess her insurance doesn't cover stolen vehicles, so here I am a 23 year old single and pregnant mother with no vehicle and no way to get to work, school, etc!!! THANKS FARMERS INSURANCE FOR NOTHING!!!!
