I would like your thoughts on my dealings with Farmers Insurance,
I am recently divorced and of course never dealt with the insurance company until the last two years.
I have been late on several of my payments, due to my income. My agent has never had a problem with this and has always accepted payment. Well, last summer I purchased a Lexus and he quoted a premium of 104 monthly. I agreed and set up automatic wd, my bank calls me and says there is wd coming out of my account for the amount of 179.00. I had to put a stop payment and called my agent and he went on and on blah blah blah about this fee and full coverage but he still said it comes out to be 104.00 monthly.
Well, we agreed I could not pay the the whole amount until Aug 31.
And being the trustworthy soul I am I just thought he was looking out for me and took him at his word and keep in mind, I started this policy on Jun 16. The amount owing was 328.00. Well on Aug 29 trying to miss a deer I totaled my vehicle. Called my agent and he said Mrs Harmon your policy cancelled on Aug 16. I said, Mr Agent, we agreed I would come in on Aug 31` and pay the total amount. Well he did not remember this conversation, but did tell me to bring the check in, I did this, and called the claims adjuster who of course denied my claim. But Mr,Agent on Aug 30 kept my policy in effect and stamped my check and planned on using it for a vehicle which was totaled. I am out and of course its his word against mine.
Any thoughts?
Sincerely hoping for something here.
P.S. I have filed a claim with the insurance comm, and it has been a back and forth dispute since SEPT 2006 with Farmers.
They lie, cheat and steal. And I have several documents to prove this. Their online site does not quote the same information the documents they are sending me. So I am not sure what to beleive anymore. And what to do.
Have you talked to an attorney? Bring in all your documentation and see a lawyer.
Here are a few resources:

This quoting of one price and billing another sounds like typical bait and switch. Print out this document below about Farmers Insurance Billing and take it also to your lawyer.

See if it could be a class action due to Farmers Insurance quoting one price and billing another. Would this be considered fraud? In regards to a class action you may contact these attorneys

Sadly you are not alone with the billing issue you encountered. It is a Farmers wide deal where you are told that your premium should equal:
6 month premium / 6 = monthly
But it doesnt come out that way because of the mystery black box they use. That is explained in that farmers-online article detailed in the above post.
Do you have what the total 6 month premium amount was supposed to be? I can probably figure out a little better what happened if you do. Just post the amount on this message if you have it.
Thank-you for your time, Here goes I had a Pontiac Grand Prix and the renewel effective date was October 20,2005 for six months it was 310.90. I made payments in the amount of 601.81. Last payment was 56.76 which my agent told me was due when I went into his office to do the change of vehicle to the 1995 Lexus on June 15,2006. He quoted me a monthly premium of 104.70 the next day on the phone saying he had to up the coll to 500, to keep my premium lower. A total six month premium on my documents shows 622.40. I set up the electronic payment and the amount coming out was 189.55 which I did not approve of. I put a stop payment and my agent sent me a letter saying I would be charged for the stop payment fee and they would be sending me a new statement showing this amount along with my monthly fee. Well at the end of July I receive a cancellation notice with a minimum amount due of 328.25 on Aug 16 2006. The agent apparantly charged me fees for multiples changes which I did not approve of. And please tell me if I paid almost the total premium for the year on the Grand Prix would that have not transferred over.
My insurance agent has done too many unethical dealings with my account for the last two years. So I cannot even begin to explain all of that. But I do have all the proof showing these actions, which I was unaware of until this accident.
Thank-you for your time and any thoughts would be very much appreciated.
you pay a aditional monthly fee when you pay by the month (what you are doing is 'financing' the 6 month premium, and paying a additional billing charge)
if you pay the whole premium at one time, no surcharges apply, if you pay in two installments, you pay one financing fee and one additional billing fee.
when you pay by the month, you pay one financing fee, and five additional billing fees. good luck on your fight. adrian
TO BEGIN,
IT SEEMS NOT TO MATTER IF IT IS FARMERS, STATE FARM OR ANY AND ALL OF THE OTHER FAKES, FRAUDS, OR PHONIES. THEY ARE ALL THIEVES IN ANY AND ALL VENUES OF THE INSURANCE BUSINESS.
PLACE A CLAIM AND WAIST AWAY, YOU WILL NEVER SEE RECOMPENSE.
THESE FOLKS CAN AND DO MAKE "THEFT LEGAL" BANKS, CREDIT CARD CO.S,MORTGAUGE CO.S
YOU WIND UP FACING BILLS YOU COULD NOT HAVE EVER IMAGINED DUE TO PHONY 'APR's
THAT WILL CAP YOU FOR LIFE IF ONLY MAKING THE 'MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS. --------- BOTTOM LINE - THEY WILL OWN YOUR HOME BY THESE PROCEDURES AS SOON AS YOU DEFAULT.(THAT IS THEIR PLAN.)
EQUITY THIEVES ARE THE NEW BREED AND WILL TAKE YOU DOWN IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY ARE PROPOSING.
I WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND MUCH MORE BUT IT IS LATE AND I AM TIRED - MORE LATER.
THANKS,
MIKE
