Refused to Renew after 16 years

We live in No. California and have been with Foremost for 16 years. Well this year my wife's mother became very ill and she when to care for her. While she was away the invoice for the renewal came and of course I promptly filed in in the pile for her. Well unfortunately her mother passed and we had to go out of state to settle her estate. When we returned my wife realized my error and immediately contacted the company. They informed us that they would not renew our policy because we in a "fire ring". I explained all what had occured but to no avail. The sorry thing about all of this is all the Foremost employees we have spoken to qualified this whole thing: "We would not have cancelled you if you had paid but we won't renew you" 16 years, never a claim. So much for customer loyalty. So much for taking care of your customers. I have not experienced what many of you here have because I've never filed a claim. I agree with the general consent here, avoid them. Don't give them your business. They're not worth your hard earned money.

I have had Farmers Homeowners insurance for at least 30 years. I have never filed a claim nor been late with a payment. They have now decided that because fascia boards on my garage are beginning to rot, they are not going to renew my policy unless they are replaced. Throughout the years I have maintained by home....new roof, furnace, siding, windows, etc. At this time, my garage fascia boards are not a priority to me and they won't be replaced until probably next summer. Farmers will not extend their policy and as of December 6th, I will be cancelled. They also hold my car insurance which I will drop. Does Farmers think it is good business sense losing $2000/year for a couple of fascia boards? Apparently they do...
