Homeowners insurance

We had a house fire in 2008 2 weeks after the adjuster came out we received a letter from farmers advising us that we could start repairs while waiting for their claims adjusters damage estimate. We immediately had our contractor try to clean cabinets and wood flooring in the kitchen that was heavily smoke damaged after 2 attempts the cabinets started to deteriorate and still smelled like smoke so they were replaced. I had cancer and was going through chemo, the smoke Oder emanating from the cabinets and wood flooring increased the nausea 10 fold and I had to move out of the house until they were replaced. Several weeks later we received farmers estimate for $30,000.00 in damages, over a three year period they increased the actual damages they were willing to pay to $62,000.00 payments were made in dribs and drabs over three years Farmers damage estimate process is designed to confuse and screw their customers, their policy verbiage contains, actual cost, final demand, arbitration. Are not acknowledge by their adjusters. My adjustor told me their was no arbitration his decision to deny cabinet and floor relacememts was final. When his supervisor the head of farmers claim center was contacted his response was, I'm not doing his work ( my adjuster ) and what arbitration are you talking about. When I told him the arbitration provided for in my policy he told me that was up to me. I asked what he meant and he told me he didn't know what I was talking about that arbitration was up to me
I sent bills marked paid totaling $84,000.00 as a final demand, requested arbitration, to my adjustor, to his supervisor and corporate, verbally,by email and in writing and was totally ignored. I'm still out $22,000.00

THEY CAME TO MY HOME ,WHEN I WAS NOT AT HOME.
SENT ME A LETTER TO ME TELLING ME THAT I NEED TO PAINT MY SHOP,HAUL AWAY CAR THAT I RESTORING ,REPAIR MY BACK DOOR
WHICH I AM , WHEN HAVE TIME AND THE MONEY.
AND TOLD ME TO CLEAN UP AND REPAIR OR THEY WILL CANCAL IN 60 DAYS IN LETTER THEY SENT.

BUT WE HAD A HAIL STORM 2 YEARS AGO AND I CALL THEM AND THEY SENT SOMEONE AND THEY SAID NO DAMAGE.
AND ITS LEAKING NOW AND I HAD IT FOR THEM TO TELL ME IT HAD HAIL DAMAGE.

I HAVE BEEN WITH FOR 20 YEARS.

We had been with Farmers for 9 years and had a minor claim for food spoilage when a freezer went out (like $300 was paid) and a tree limb fell on my roof during a storm and the claim was only $1700 which could have been a whole lot more as the limb broke the ground wire for the electricity and if I had not been home and turned off the breaker, the power company said it would have burned the house down.. The next summer, they decided to "not renew our policy" so I called them.. They told me the reason was because.. Get this .. I had "too many weeds in my yard".. HUH?? I live on a FARM.. and I had just had twins so 40 people from our church had been there 3 days before and spent all day clearing brush and getting the whole yard cleared... It was a BS line and then they refused to classify the claims properly so when I was forced to change companies, it caused my rates to go way up. After lots of emails and phone calls I finally got them to figure out what they were supposed to do and fix it. I will NEVER go back to them or recommend them to anyone.
