Fired - What info will Farmers HR provide potential employer?
Posted by: Oceans (IP Logged)

Unjustly fired recently and am wondering what Farmers HR will tell a potential employer when they call to verify employment. Will they just verify dates of employment, job title, etc. or are they going to state I was terminated? I want to just put this whole chapter of my life behind me and move on with a decent company. Not sure how I am going to handle the why-you-left-the-company question yet because I don't know what to expect from Farmers.

I think it depends on where you live. In Califonia, all they can tell are facts about dates of employment and they cannot do anything to prevent the employee from getting another job.

They will do whatever they want. Farmers doesn't believe in ethics. Never have, never will. I was terminated due to being diabetic. I applied for jobs and one in particular, i was told during the interview, I was in like flint. When they clalled Farmers. I was later told by this company that they chose another person. I'm 100% confident they lied through their corrupt teeth. I was out of work for 15 months before finding employment. Granted the economy isn't the greatest but... I know how they work.Read posts by Clayton Roloff. Same scenario. Hell, just look at this site. You think they have ethics???

Check with the laws of your state. In MO where I live, the company is compelled to write a exit letter upon request which states your position, lenght of employement and why you were terminated. Another good way to follow up is to hire an indepoenent co. to call you ex boss or hr and ask all the hr questions to see what is said and if you are getting a black ball. It costs $79.Then you would also have proof should you have damages to seek suit against Farmers. I recently sent Farmers HR and my past mgr. Betty Lou Nixon a notice I will be using a service to verify thier reference and if it is negative in any way I will file suit. Finally I have a firm who has read my past co. emails and audio tapes of mgt/HR. and will back me in suit! If Farmers was smart they woul give the good information out that an employee deservers and avoid suits. Hey - ddopers - thieves - pervert employees have no exceptions and should be burned in a reference. That is not me. I am a hard worker, loyal an commited to a company policy that is HONEST.

Good luck,

Clayton Roloff

Oceans,

Let me know what you learned or updates, as I am in the same position as you. I was "exceeds" in all but one of my measurments when I was terminated...but still they gave me the boot b/c of total bull things like diary being late etc.

Jane Doe,Oceans,Tricked Me and all others That were Wrongfully Terminated by Farmers,

Make sure that you file for unemployment and a complaint with the EEOC. Farmers will have to respond to them eventually with the reason that you were actually let go. You can then use that info for future employment.
Farmers is not supposed to say anything except when you worked, what your position was, and for how long you were used by them...
They lie to you when you are working for them, they lie when they wrongfully terminate you and whats to stop them from lying to future employers.

If anybody is thinking about taking this Company to court contact me. I already have the ball rolling and will be filing soon. I am just waiting on the EEOC to complete thier investigation.

I can be contacted at dmacappraisals@comcast.net

Good luck to all of you,

Dave

While out on Leave of Absence which was outside of FMLA as it was longer then 12 weeks I got canned or according to Farmers I voluntarily terminated my employment. What a bunch of idiots I was on a Medical leave for depression which was partially caused by working at Farmers as a claims adjuster in the coverage department. In August I got a letter from Farmers stating they needed me to contact them or submit documentation to their Leave Administrator Liberty Mutual indicating a new return to work date as what they had on file was the end of July. I contacted my doctor and he told me that he submitted new documents to Liberty Mutual indicating my new return to work date would be end of August. I then contacted my HR rep at Farmers and told her this she said she would check into it with Liberty Mutual and get back with me but she never did. I also tried calling my claim rep with Liberty Mutual to never get any response. Finally the last week of August after never hearing from Liberty Mutual or Farmers I get a letter from Farmers indicating that because I haven't spoken with them or been at work since April my employment with Farmers Insurance is believed to be voluntarily terminated. I tried contacting HR after getting this letter but no response. I submitted unemployment claim to DOL in my state and depending on how that goes depends on if Farmers along with Liberty Mutual will be sued by me.

Hey Liberty,
Sorry to hear of your having to contend with the corrupt ways of Farmers. I went through VERY similar circumstances. As a matter of facts. Clayton Roloff and Dave who posted on this thread also went through similar circumstances.
First off, if you haven't already done so, I would do your research and go to the EEOC website and look at the guidlines for a disability. When I was looking at issues regarding diabetes, I believe I saw soemthing that relates to depression etc... I'm not certain but you may be able to pursue a discrimination case against Farmers. If you do, in fact, qualify, I would go to your nearest EEOC office and file formal charges. Act quickly as you only have a certain amount of time to file. Provide them with EVERYTHING. Once you file, you toll the statute.
Don't sit idle. Pursue these bastards. I've mentioned before, there is a distinct pattern with unjustified terminations by Farmers. Dave is working with an attorney in South Carolina and I believe he is interested in speaking with individuals about their cases. There may be the possibility of him handling a class action suit.
Believe me, I had to deal with assholes of H/R: Kim Webb, Jackie Stevens and the head bitch pig, Paula Garavaglia. They don't know the first thing about H/R. They have corrupt actions of managers laid right before them and they dismiss it. Then, they join in the game and screw with people's lives. I dealt with Liberty Mutual as well. I didn't have any direct problems with them but, Jackie Stevens advised me I had to get Liberty Mutual's permission to return to work. Yeah, she knows what she's doing!!
These half wits in H/R practice being incompetent pieces of crap. They pride themselves on it. They all need to go through the hell many of us have for no justified reason.
The only way we can do something about this is to band together and stuff their unethical ways down their damn throats.
Write back and let us know where you're at as far as EEOC matters etc...
I'm sure Dave and Clayton will follow-up and respond to your thread.
I haven't seen Clayton in a while and hope is doing O.K.
Stay strong!!!!

I'm just wondering what most of the fired Farmers employees are putting on applications when it asks if they were ever terminated or forced into resigning. Are most of you just saying that you were laid off and leaving it at that? Any and all thoughts on this would be appreciated. Incidently, I was employed and terminated in California.
