I am a Claims Representative in the Liability Department in California. I have been with the company a while, I work as hard, fast and efficiently as humanely possible. Please keep in mind that in CA we are limited to a 40hr work week and OT is not granted very often. If requested, the answer is “You’re not managing your time effectively, or I don’t see why you’re not able to get this done during your work hours” or this one is my favorite… “I reviewed your case load and you don’t need overtime.
My ENTIRE department works SO HARD. To think of it, I have never seen a group of people work so intensely in my life. All of us are not only wonderful human beings, but we are all educated with various post grad credentials and degrees. Most of continually exceed expectations in performance, productivity, our behaviors and customer service. With this in mind, we are continuously told that we are NEVER GOOD ENOUGH.
From 8 to 5pm we are overworked: we are given way too many claims and duties. The CR’s are stressed, on high alert, insanely busy, and on the go- for if they slip up, lose momentum or even take a min to breathe they could potentially lose their jobs. I would like to speak for myself, but I do know if applies to many, in saying that my personal well being, mental wellness, and physical health has been damaged.
However, the Economy is BAD. We all need to keep our jobs. We are like Hamsters on Wheels, running as fast as we can. As usual, and now more than ever, Farmers is writing their CR’s us up for ridiculous reasons. It is Obvious that management is DIGGING through our current caseloads, Closed Claims, behaviors to FIND ANYTHING they can write us up for. I have watched hard working people get fired for ABSOULTLY NO SOLID Reason. Farmers will find a human error in a Claims File, place one on probation, continue the probation for some other common error and Fire you at the Door. Their work duties are purposely created to they are unachievable. As of today, the Liability Claims Department Has most of Its CR’s on probation, counseling, suspension. All for RIDCOULUS REASONS .
I Believe that Farmers Insurance is not Laying-off, instead they are FIRING. I also believe they are firing those who make the most money. I believe they are working us too hard by giving us an insane workload and unjustifiably refusing us Overtime. Everyday, our staff waits to see who is going to be written up next. The company is Horrible to its employees and I can’t believe that they continually get away with their abuse.
