Commission Checks?!?!

Commission Checks?!?!
February 03, 2015 08:19PM
So I have a question for any current or recent Farmers Insurance Agents. Is it true that Farmers Insurance no longer offers full commission checks to their agents? I've heard employees are now provided a small amount within each pay check and employees have to wait months to receive their full commission? Confirming or denying this information would be extremely helpful. Thank you!!

Good question Concerned Party. The short answer is no for any Farmers products sold. There are cutoff dates though of each month on when agents would get paid on a sale that was made. For example; Let's say that the cutoff date in November was 11/20/2015 and the previous months' (October) cutoff date was 10/20/2015. Anything sold between 10/21/2015 through 11/20/2015 an agent would get paid on 12/1/2015. Then if December's cutoff was 12/22/2015, then anything sold between 11/21/2015 through 12/22/2015 would get paid on 1/1/2016.

And agents get paid the full commission at the 1st of every month. Again lets say Farmers agents get paid 10% commission for a new business auto policy sold and 10% renewal auto policy. Lets say that new business auto policy was $600 per 6-months. That Farmers agent would get paid commission of $60. Then when that policy renews 6-months later at $600 for the next term, the Farmers agent would again get paid the full 10% renewal commission (which would again be $60).

The only way commission isn't paid in full to Farmers agents is if they sell a Foremost policy and if that Foremost client pays on their policy via monthly. So if a Farmers agent sells a motorcycle policy through Foremost and that client pays on their motorcycle insurance monthly, then the agent does get a smaller check each month because the client is paying monthly. If that same client paid for their motorcycle insurance in full for the year. The Farmers agent would get paid in one larger commission check for that year.
