Hi Marguerite, The SIU suit was settled about 3 years ago. i went through the same crap as you did. The O/T of course, working for a manager (Chuck Bos in Grand Rapids, Mi) who would satnd in meetings and tell us who his favorites were and who gets the biggest raises, made fun of employees going through chemo and fabricating false accusations of substandard work performance. I was curious if anybody else out there was involved in the SIU class action O/T suit. This matter went to mediation recently and the settlement amount I was advised of seems rather low. I spooke with plaintiff counsel and was told the figures were based on a 2 year time period. I'm not certain why I thought it was based on a 3 year time period. One of a couple of things will happen. If you no longer contact them about the claim, they will close the file and not pay you a dime. If you choose to continue to pursue it, they will continue to ask for a recorded statement from you. If you don't submit, the next step is, they will ask you to submit to an EUO (Examination Under Oath). After filing my complaint through the EEOC in April 2008, I just received my right to sue letter two weeks ago. I talked with another employee who was interested in filing a class action suit through an attorney in S.C. I hadn't been able to do anything until I received my right to sue letter. Filed a complaint with the BBB and all of a sudden, Paula "The Bitch" Garavaglia was able to stop the mailings (allegedly. We'll see). Such liars. For two years saying they tried but, just couldn't figure it outr. I was told by their ambulance chasing attorney, Michael Mandel that it was a "simple fix". Daniela, I worked as a Farmers SIU Investigator. there's no doubt that Farmers has no ethics. I recall when I was working a burglary of an apartment, I found no suspicious activity on the claim. Police advised there were no indications of foul play or any involvement on the (Farmers) Insured. The Claims Dept. advised they were going to move forward and pay the claim. What has your attorney done? or what has he advised you as far as any recourse? It seems Farmers is doing whatever possible to screw you over (They LOVE doing that to people) but, you haven't metioned your attorney's involvement. Farmers Standard Operating Procedure! Gillob, I was employed by The Farmers Ignorance Group for 9 years (although not as an Agent). I can assure you that EVERYTHING Farmers does is corrupt and backhanded. I placed a call to the American Diabetes Association to discuss my EEOC/ADA charges against Farmers. The legal advocate I spoke with advised me they receive a lot of calls/complaints about Farmers discriminating against employees/former employees with diabetes. Keep Up The Great Work Farmers!!!! Just wanted to wish everybody a Happy and Prosporous New Year!! Hopefully 2010 will be a year of change where Farmers will suffer some backlash for their corrupt ways. Do whatever possible to stick it the Farmers Ignorance Group. I would go so far as to try and document lost earnings for your business for the past 7+ months and stick that under their noses too. I'm surprised Farmers didn't send out a Special Investigator in an attempt to say you committed arson and insurance fraud. They'll do whatever possible to deny your claim. I agree that something needs to be done here. Farmers seems to be having a field day with this.I was just about to turn 43 when I was terminated. I'm also diabetic, requested an ADA accomodation when I was ill and was turned down and ultimately terminated. Farmers is corrupt no matter what the circumstances. You can wait to see how your injuries are healing etc....You have no obligation to do anything just because Farmers says so. Don't let them bully you. The only time you would need to concern yourself is when the statute is coming into play. Don't let that pass otherwise, you're out of luck. I was terminated in Feb.08 from Farmers yet, I still received Total Rewards Newsletters. Yeah, I know, probably not a big deal. I could easily toss them in the trash. I was rather aggrevated at one point due to the fact, one of them offered an additional $100-$300. in an employees paycheck if they participated in a wellness program. Farmers isn't buying your story. I use to work as an SIU Investigator for Farmers (6 years until I was terminated for a temporary medical issue related to my being diabetic). Either the Claims Adjuster referred your claim to the SIU or the SIU picked your claim out and advised the Claims Adjuster that they want to investigate the claim. On Septemeber 29, 2009 a ruling on summary judgment was handed down. The judge ruled that Investigators had been misclassified as exempt employees and are therefore entitled to compensation for the hours worked over 40 in a week. Onward and upward.by Farmers Parolee - Employee and Agent Complaints

It's really odd. I was terminatd by this butthole company due to my diabetes ( I filed EEOC charges). I started a new job at the beginning of May 2009 (I was unemployed for 16 months!). Because of the asshole disposition of SIU Managers (and butt buddies) Chuck Bos and John Cassidy, I walked into this new job with such a defensive attitude.
