I purchased a small life insurance with Farmer's on my inlaw to just cover the funeral expense. We told the agent she had mental issues- he filled it out and marked she didn't. Well she passed because of a gall bladder complication 8 months later. My Agent told me Farmers would pay. So when the day approached I called my agent to see what I had to do. The agent instructed me and said it will be ok. I made arragements with the funeral home to pick up the loved one. We purchased the plot and everything and with the service the cost was approx. 11K. I called from the funeral home to make sure payment would be good. The Agent said yes it will, the agent told the funeral home the policy is good on more than one occassion. We laid to rest the loved one. FARMER'S DENIED THE CLAIM. Farmer's state if we would have gone the 2 year Farmer's would pay, but since she was mental (not any cause of death) and the check mark was "NO" on mental (That the AGENT filled out) the claim is denied. Now I have 11K in debt, possibly legal action against me from the funeral home. If the AGENT would have been honest with me at the begining that Farmer's may not pay, I would have done a cremation. Since there was no mention of "might not", won't, may choose option not to pay, and statements made that Farmer's will make it good I did the full funeral.

| I don't like farmers more than anyone else...but you lied on a financial contract. You knowingly signed your name to a document that was false, that is felony fraud. The sad part about this is I assume farmers didnt fire the agent, but you should be in jail. your lucky farmers employees are so lazy or maybe they would have submitted this case to the local district attorney. |

huh?? how did I lie? we told him what medications my inlaw was taking and THAT SHE WAS MENTAL. THE AGENT marked down "no" I did NOT tell him anything false. As I stated he (the agent) marked "no" and Farmers stated in their letter if this would have happed in another 12 months, they would have paid. My attorney seems to think this is a good case as the agent filled it out and bound a mentally ill person in a contract as HE was made aware of the inlaws mental state. So, by YOUR standard, if I tell you something is white and YOU write black - I lied huh? I guess you are allowed your opinion. _________________ really screwed |

Well at least now i know what insurance company NOT to go for especially since I still haven't purchased one and am looking into a good HALF HONEST at least service so i can actually drive.
but im afraid insurance companies are like credit card companies, just out for the money... business
well hope you can prove your case, because this world isnt fair and unless something really drastic happens the media will not get a hold of this issue since theyre busy with paris hilton's size and the war, so you might want to try emailing tv shows or that bill o'reilly guy... |

You really should read eveything you sign. I had a claim denied, and once I actually took the time to read the policy...turns out I didn't have the coverage I thought I had, and not only did I not have it, I signed on the application that I was denying it...whose fault is that? Mine, yes, but also the agent. They should explain all of the coverage you have and you should read EVERY word of it and ask questions.

You admit that the agent checked no mental health issues on the application and yet you signed it. I went to get life insurance through a different company and when my agent put that I was a non-tobacco user on the application, I refused to sign it. I explained that I was not going to turn in false information and that I wanted to see what the rates would come back at. He re-wrote the application and then i signed it. By signing the application with false information, it was you who was turning in a false application no matter who filled it out. The agent is only there to assist you. Should he have done it, no. But it does not change the fact that you signed it.
Also, I believe that there is a two year waiting period before a life insurance policy can be used. I am not really versed on life insurance so I could be wrong. |

| Okay reagrdless of what was signed and not in some states if a LIcense Representative says "Something is Covered" then they can be held accountable. IF you have multiple parties that the licensed agent stated it would be covered oral/verbal is gospel. Consult legal counselg E & O |
